Cross-platform mobile & web patient apps

Challenge

Deliver a great experience for patients interacting with a healthcare provider: schedule appointments with reminders, self check-in, view and interpret lab results, chat with clinicians directly, and pay bills. Deliver those features with accessibility in mind, both from a design and technical perspective (universal app running on iOS, Android, and the web), with a small team and limited resources.

Solution

We built several apps using Expo/React Native that allow a single codebase to run as a native app on iOS/Android, as well as a web application. This is paired with a GraphQL API that can stitch together various backends to provide a unified and integrated experience to patients (EHR connectivity, payment gateway, scheduling software, lab partners, RCM, SMS gateway…).

Result

A rich and snappy user experience that increases the satisfaction of patients while reducing the workload of clinicians and medical assistants. By combining universal accessibility (meeting patients where they are), patients are more engaged and maximize their usage of the service.
