CHALLENGE

Extend the current platform, which does spaced repetition for improving learning, to also facilitate mathematics education, which was unsupported. Specific requirements were to support equation and graph entries for questions and answers, enable variations for math-based questions, improve automated grading process for math questions, and enable teachers to use standard curricula material easily.

SOLUTION

We used product design and management expertise to identify suitable UX workflows to capture these feature needs within the context of the current platform, then full-stack expertise to implement them iteratively. For those features identified as needing an AI component: identified LLMs to use, and conducted prompt engineering and experimentation until suitable results were achieved then integrated these into the platform.

RESULT

Teachers can now generate more question/answer content for their students using AI, as well as grade questions faster, reducing their time burden to provide students quality content.

Additionally, the platform can support mathematics-style questions and answers that include equations and graphs, meaning students have access to a wider range of materials.
